When a serial killer rocks a small town in Oregon, a young woman with special powers might be the only person able to stop him. As part of a secret branch of the FBI, Tessa is sent on a mission to impersonate Madison, a local teen and the last victim of the brutal attacker, to find the killer before he strikes again.
As if absorbing the DNA of someone else and pretending to be them wasn’t hard enough, Alec, the guy she’s been in love with for years, is joining her on the dangerous mission. Tessa knows she can’t let her feelings for him get in the way, especially as her crush seems hopeless. Not only is Alec her self-defence teacher but he's also taken. If only the attraction between them would stop complicating everything!
Will Tessa find the killer before another person falls victim to him? Or will she lose herself in a life she’s always longed for but never had?

Plot Summary :
This is Tessa and Alec's story. Tessa knows her crush on Alec won't be going anywhere since the man is already taken and never saw her as anything more than a friend, but that does not stop her heart from hoping. When he gets paired with her on a mission and being in close proximity with him, it gets so much more tough to maintain her feelings.
But things are much more complicated. With a killer on the loose and their lives being in constant danger, romance is the last thing on their mind.
Overall Opinion :
This is Cora Reilly trying something new. I loved this new curve of story by her. Her suspense has always been good because I have read her mafia romance books so I knew I had to read this one too. It was a pleasant read with a contemporary romance genre. It was not too dark other than a psycho killer being there.
I loved the characters and the slow burn between the main leads was good! Definitely recommending this one to all those murder mystery romance loving people out there!
